Yousra Mohamed Hafez Nassim, born in Cairo in 1955, is one of the most iconic figures in Egyptian and Arab cinema. In 2020, she became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and serves as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme. Discovered in the 1970s by cinematographer Abdel Halim Nasr, she rose to prominence through her exceptional talent, presence, and the enduring influence she has carried across more than four decades.
She achieved widespread fame through her celebrated collaborations with Adel Imam, including Terrorism and Kebab, The Forgotten, and Birds of Darkness. Her work with renowned director Youssef Chahine on An Egyptian Story, Alexandria Again and Forever, and The Emigrant earned her international recognition and secured her place among the region’s most respected and versatile actors. Her career reflects a rare blend of artistic range, elegance, and cultural impact.
